Titans Nip Racers, 3-2
|
The Titans had to overcome a fine performance from Bowling Green pitcher Robert Cook to grab a 3-2 win at The War Dome. Cook allowed 1 earned run over 5.1 innings. Chicago reliever Ayan Osewe picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-1. Joël Barbier was collared with the loss. Nobuharu Fujita closed the game out for Chicago, earning his 9th save.
Had Jason Corcoran not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Corcoran hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Titans.
"I was a little disappointed," said Bowling Green manager Walt Dobson. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Chicago now sits at 51-44, while Bowling Green falls to 49-42.
