Death Stars Cut Down Fireballs, 4-1
|
Detroit rode a good effort from starter Felipe Marés to beat the Joplin Fireballs at The Firepit. The final score was 4-1. Marés, now 5-5, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. The Death Stars now have a record of 45-47 with the win over Joplin.
In the top of the fifth inning, catcher Morgan Catterall came through big-time for the Death Stars. With Detroit leading 1-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Joplin manager Jeremy Lake. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
