The Fairfield Flash clobbered the Scranton Escape, 12-0, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park today. Fairfield designated hitter Nesto Castillo was named player of the game for his productive day. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Yeong-suk Kim, the winner, improved to 8-4. He held the Escape to no earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. With the victory, the Flash record now stands at 51-38.
Garin Renzenbrink took Dave Garcia deep with one out in the bottom of the first. On a 3-1 forkball, Renzenbrink drilled a 2-run home run to left-center. It was his 23rd home run of the season and put Fairfield on top, 2-0.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Scranton manager Julián Cancil. "We got flat-out beat."
