Rhinos Sneak Past Pioneers, 4-3
|
The Rubber City Rhinos topped the Vancouver Pioneers, 4-3, in 13 innings. Rubber City center fielder Pedro Pérez earned player of the game honors with his performance. He went 2-2 with 2 home runs, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win brings the Rhinos to 16-9, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Rubber City won the game in the bottom of the 13th inning. With one out and John Bunce on the mound for Vancouver, third baseman Avatsara Sangameswar hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Rhinos fans to their feet.
"There's no quit in this team," said Rhinos manager Larry Johnson.
