Cats Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Coronado second baseman Ryuichi Motsuzuki was sensational. He went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Fort Worth beat the Phantoms, 7-6. Motsuzuki was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was credited to Robby Guzman in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Kawanari Uchida took the loss. The last-place Cats improved to 40-45.
The Cats beat the Phantoms in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Ken Paul produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Coronado pitcher Phil Phillips, Paul gave his team a 4-3 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"I like our resilience," said Paul.
