Racers Drop Another One
|
The Fairfield Flash beat the Bowling Green Racers, 9-1, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Nathan Sewell, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Gabriel Bernard got the win, improving to 7-2. He held the Racers to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The Racers have now dropped 5 straight.
Fairfield designated hitter Jorge Escobedo made his contribution to the Flash cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the third inning. For the day, Escobedo was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Flash manager Gary Altman, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
