Death Stars Hang 5-0 Loss on Freeze
|
Detroit got a strong outing from Kyoji Mizutani as the Death Stars defeated the Minneapolis Freeze, 5-0, at The Death Star. Mizutani, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. The second-place Death Stars have won 4 in a row.
The Death Stars beat the Freeze in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Raúl Fernández produced in the bottom of the second. Batting against Minneapolis pitcher Dave Sherrill, Fernández gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Mizutani.
