Canadians Turn Back Billings, 4-3
|
The Vancouver Canadians did just enough to sneak past the Billings Mustangs, 4-3, at Stanley Park. Vancouver pitcher Wilson Polk earned player of the game honors. Vancouver reliever Cai-fei Men was credited with the win, to go to 4-0. Hisato Okubo took the loss for Billings. Alberto Ramírez got the save, the 12th for him this season.
Vancouver took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 2nd, Cesar Sandino stroked a run-scoring double to make it 4-3, Canadians.
Billings manager Greg Morgan said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Vancouver bumps their record to 39-40 with the win.
