Big Day for Severns as Cacti Down Coal Miners, 8-0
|
The Albuquerque Cacti thumped the Antioch Coal Miners, 8-0, at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Joe Severns was a big reason his team got the win. Severns was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Albuquerque reliever James Crowe was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Rick Childress. Ángel González got credit for the save for Albuquerque. It was his 1st of the year.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, designated hitter Kijuro Masuda had a key at-bat for the Cacti. With Albuquerque leading 5-0, he banged a 3-run home run.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Severns told the Albuquerque Observer.
Albuquerque is 5th in the Nick Adenhart League Bobby Cox Division with a record of 37-40.
