Cats Top Freedom, 4-3
|
The Fort Worth Cats eked out a 4-3 win versus the Philadelphia Freedom at LaGrave Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Dost Ghuman, who captured player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was Ghuman, now 7-6. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Nabil bin Baha earned the save for Fort Worth, his 1st of the year.
Pat Yelland had a big 2-run single for the Cats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Fort Worth leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a curveball from Juan Ramírez and stroked the single to right. It was his 7th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cats ahead, 4-0.
After the game, Fort Worth manager Lowell Wise applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Cats saw their win-loss record go to 36-42. At the same time, the Freedom fell to 45-32.
