Minneapolis catcher Reece Wager made his presence felt in the 5-2 Freeze triumph over the Chicago Titans. Wager was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Minneapolis reliever Xian Wang picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Tsuneyo Kichikawa absorbed the loss. Their 42-34 record puts the Freeze first in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
Tony Littler's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a fastball from Tsuneyo Kichikawa for a run-scoring single. It put Minneapolis in front, 3-2.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Littler, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
