Mendel Israel had a good game, but he could not keep the Astoria Argonauts from falling, 7-3, to the Canton Paczkis at Mckinley Park. The Astoria catcher went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Eduardo Diadoni earned the win to go to 4-4. He allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Canton improves to 45-33 with the win. They lead their division by 2˝ games.
With one out in the bottom of the first, Jesús Ortíz hit a go-ahead run-scoring single. It was his 74th hit of the season and with it the Paczkis took a 1-0 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Canton manager Omar Arteaga.
