Bombers Finish Off Fireballs in 12
|
The Bronx Bombers defeated the Joplin Fireballs, 8-5, in 12 innings. Wang Tong led the way, going 1-for-1 for Bronx. Dwayne Wilberfoss, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Bronx, at 27-42, occupies last place in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Bronx shortstop Michael Krause. In the top of the 12th inning, with one out and a runner on 2nd, Krause reached on an error by the right fielder to help Bronx seize the win.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Tong.
