Getting a good performance from catcher Masahiro Tomita, the Joplin Fireballs defeated the Astoria Argonauts, 7-5. Tomita went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Fireballs. Liu-chun Ren closed it out for his 1st save. Joplin is now 28-42, while Astoria is 32-36.

José Villalobos made it 4-3 in favor of Joplin when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with one out in the top of the eighth. The Fireballs went on to win.

"It feels good to get this one," Tomita told the Joplin Gazette.
