Canadians Sneak Past Cacti, 6-5
|
Albuquerque designated hitter Kijuro Masuda was sensational. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Vancouver beat the Cacti, 6-5. Masuda was named the player of the game despite the loss. Vancouver reliever Francisco Cohen picked up the win to move to 1-2. Hisataro Sato suffered the loss. Vancouver, at 35-30, occupies third place in the Nick Adenhart League Bobby Cox Division.
This game was not decided until Peer Ehles came to bat in the top of the ninth. With a runner on 3rd and no one out, the Vancouver right fielder hit a run-scoring single. The Canadians took the lead, 6-5.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Ehles told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
