The Philadelphia Freedom got a sterling performance from pitcher Jérémy Thomas, but the Argonauts still prevailed, 5-3. Thomas was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Astoria reliever Ramón Gómez was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Nobuatsu Fukumoto took the loss for Philadelphia. Jeff Schwartz closed the game out for Astoria, earning his 3rd save.

The most important at-bat for Astoria came in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter Ji-hyun Kim stroked a 2-1 fastball to right-center for a 2-run home run, putting Astoria up, 5-3.

"This was a good win," said Kim.

Astoria, at 29-31, occupies 4th place in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League.
