Coal Miners Topple Bombers, 8-3
|
The Antioch Coal Miners powered past the Bronx Bombers, 8-3, at The Coal Mine. Víctor Sandoval was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. The winner was Ramón Torres in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Maurice Oakley took the loss. The Coal Miners improved to a lofty 42-18.
Sandoval contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Antioch in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Sandoval took a fastball from Maurice Oakley and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Coal Miners to leap in front, 6-3.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Sandoval told the Antioch Citizen.
