Bumblebees Win at Detroit, 7-5
|
Detroit left fielder Anthony Miller was sensational. He went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Pasadena beat the Death Stars, 7-5. Miller was named the player of the game despite the loss. Gilberto Chávez closed the door for Pasadena, picking up his 6th save of the year. Pasadena's record now stands at 26-32, placing them third in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
In the top of the 2nd, Pasadena took the lead on a grand slam home run by Mototsune Yamamoto. At the time, the Bumblebees were trailing 2-0, but Yamamoto's hit with two outs against Detroit pitcher José Barrachina put them in front, 4-2.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Yamamoto, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
