Coal Miners Topple Freedom as Mata Shines
|
With catcher Salvador Mata leading the charge, the Antioch Coal Miners defeated the Philadelphia Freedom, 7-3, at The Bell. Mata went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The Coal Miners improved to a lofty 41-16.
Going deep for Antioch was Jim Commo. The first baseman had a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning for the Coal Miners. It put his team ahead, 4-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Commo went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Commo said after the game.
