The Albuquerque Cacti got a superb performance from pitcher Dan Thompson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Fort Worth. The Cats won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Thompson was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The Cacti, at 27-27, have lost 4 in a row.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, third baseman Toshiharu Takuda won it for Fort Worth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Takuda hit a 0-1 fastball from Shunji Kurota for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 4-3 win.

"This place was rockin'," Takuda said.
