Stickells, Freedom Rough Up Coal Miners
|
Philadelphia and Antioch met at The Bell in front of a lively crowd.
The Philadelphia Freedom put together a convincing win at The Bell, defeating the Antioch Coal Miners, 13-3. Harold Stickells was one of the hitting stars. He was 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 6 for Philadelphia. The winner was Leslie Arrington, who threw 104 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 1 hit.
An important at-bat for Philadelphia came with two out in the bottom of the third. With the bases loaded, Stickells hit a grand slam, which contributed to the Freedom win.
In postgame comments, Stickells told the Philadelphia Today: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
The Freedom, at 35-18, sit in second place in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League.
