Gabresilassie Cherono pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Albuquerque Cacti, despite Cherono's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Canton Paczkis at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Canton starter Don Hart was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 5-4. The Paczkis raised their record to 32-23.
In the top of the 5th, the Paczkis grabbed the lead on a two-out home run by Noboru Kamada. Canton at the time was trailing 1-0, but Kamada's 2-run home run off Gabresilassie Cherono put his team in front.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Kamada.
