Argonauts Sneak Past Cats, 10-9
|
The Astoria Argonauts outlasted José Rodríguez and the Fort Worth Cats, 10-9. Rodríguez was impressive in the loss. The Fort Worth left fielder hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. The win was Jeff Schwartz's in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Robby Guzman took the loss for Fort Worth. The Argonauts raised their record to 23-25.
The Argonauts got an important contribution from pinch hitter Abdul-Muttalib Yunus, who in the bottom of the ninth punched a 0-2 curveball into center for a run-scoring single. It was his 6th hit of the season and put the Argonauts ahead, 10-9.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Yunus said.
