Victory Pushes Phantoms Record to 26-23
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Coronado Phantoms eventually prevailed at Excavatar Park.
The Coronado Phantoms defeated the Peoria Caterpillars, 6-5, in Nick Adenhart League action at Excavatar Park. Terrence Sepkiechler received player of the game honors. The 17-year veteran went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Taylor Longbottom was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 10 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Picking up the save was Pedro Alejo, his 9th.
Sepkiechler contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Coronado in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Sepkiechler took a changeup from Jim Obershaw and stroked the double to right. His 14th double of the season allowed the Phantoms to leap in front, 3-2.
"They played a better game than we did," said Peoria skipper Roberto Martínez.
The Phantoms saw their win-loss record go to 26-23. At the same time, the Caterpillars fell to 25-22.
