Freedom Win Again, Extend Streak to 9
|
Peoria got a terrific game from left fielder Steve Bailey. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Philadelphia, 6-5. Bailey was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. The Freedom, at 27-14, have now won 9 straight.
Philadelphia catcher Jack Zapor contributed to the cause with a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Zapor went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs.
"I wouldn't want to be playing us right now," said Philadelphia manager Dan Jones.
