Mezzanotte Helps Philadelphia Cruise to 12-3 Win
The Philadelphia Freedom clobbered the Peoria Caterpillars, 12-3, at The Bell today. Philadelphia designated hitter Milt Mezzanotte was named player of the game for his productive day. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Reggie Casteel was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. The winning streak has now reached 8 games for Philadelphia.

The Freedom beat the Caterpillars with some clutch hitting. The double by Shunsho Meshizuka in the bottom of the first is a good example. With two down, Meshizuka gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.
