Earthquakes Curb Mustangs, 7-4
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes defeated the Mile High Mustangs, 7-4, in Thurman Munson League action at Golden Gate Park. Juan López received player of the game honors. The 8-year veteran went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win brings the Earthquakes to 9-12, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth when López, who is tied for 6th in the TML with a .360 batting average, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Earthquakes into the lead, 7-3.
López called the triumph "a good team win."
