Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Flash
|
The Fairfield Flash faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Yoshida Yamamoto, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The War Dome by a final score of 4-3. Yamamoto went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The win was credited to Carlos Martínez in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Millard Dixon took the loss. Fairfield currently is in 4th place in the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division at 20-19.
Susumu Kono had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the eighth. The Fairfield second baseman came through with a run-scoring single to put Fairfield in front, 4-3.
"We'll try to build on that win," Kono told the Fairfield News.
