Les van Kleef was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Minneapolis and Detroit. The Freeze right-hander was named the player of the game in Minneapolis's 3-1 win. Minneapolis is in third place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division with a record of 18-21.

Miguel Olberos's at-bat with no one out in the top of the ninth was critical. The Minneapolis pinch hitter hit a 2-run home run, to put his team on top, 3-1. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
