Black Knights Lose to Beavers, 6-3
|
The Portland Beavers picked up a win at Waterfront Park, knocking off the Brooklyn Black Knights, 6-3. On the mound for Portland was right-hander Rolf Pals, who played a pivotal role in the win. Pals went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-3. Olivier Martin sewed up the save, his 5th.
In the bottom of the fifth inning of a 3-3 tie, Portland center fielder Teruo Sato hit a run-scoring double. It broke the deadlock and put Portland on top, 4-3.
"I was able to get good plays made behind me," Pals said. "And I was able to make pitches when I needed to make pitches."
With the win, Portland pushes its record to 10-12.
