Streaking Coal Miners Win Another One
|
The exploits of catcher Gerard Vivian, who is rated as the 7th best prospect by BNN, helped the Antioch Coal Miners defeat the Astoria Argonauts, 9-0. Vivian went 2-2 with a double and 3 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Tony López, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held Astoria to no earned runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. Astoria's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Antioch grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Víctor Sandoval hit a 2-run double. For the day, Sandoval was 1 for 5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Antioch manager John Smiley.
