|
Reno beat Joplin in a rain-soaked ballgame.
In a low-scoring clash between Reno and Joplin, pitcher Gerardo Estrada was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Reno in the 3-0 win. Estrada got the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. Estrada allowed no earned runs.
It could have been a different outcome for Reno, had it not been for Luis Ávila, the 31-year old second baseman . Ávila contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the fourth inning to put Reno up, 2-0.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Estrada after the game.
With the win, Reno has a record of 16-20. Joplin falls to 17-20.
