Coal Miners Topple Freedom, 4-3

The Antioch Coal Miners beat the Philadelphia Freedom, 4-3 at The Coal Mine, in part due to second baseman Roger Schäfer, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 1 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The first-place Coal Miners raised their record to 24-10.
Schäfer turned the game around in the bottom of the seventh. That's when the Antioch second baseman dialed up a 3-run home run. Just like that, Antioch's 3-1 deficit turned into a 4-3 lead.
"I was a little disappointed," said Philadelphia manager Dan Jones. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
