Fairfield right-hander Gabriel Bernard helped his team edge Scranton by the score of 2-1. Bernard kept the opposing lineup in check. The winner was Fairfield reliever Dylan Wilson, now 2-0. The loser was Katsunan Sato. With the loss, Scranton is 20-12.

Jorge Ramírez provided some late-game heroics for Fairfield. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 1-0 fastball from Bobby Lucio and propelled Fairfield to a 2-1 lead.

"The old adage is true," said Ramírez. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
