Coal Miners Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
Antioch rode a good effort from starter Matsuyo Koda to beat the Fairfield Flash at The Coal Mine. The final score was 9-0. Koda, now 5-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. The hot start continues for the defending champion Coal Miners, who took their 22nd win in 31 games this year.

Jim Commo took Joe Gillard deep with two out in the bottom of the first. On a 0-2 fastball, Commo drilled a 3-run home run to right. It was his 9th home run of the season and put Antioch on top, 3-0.

"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Gary Altman.
