Another day, another victory for the red-hot Bowling Green Racers.

Pat McConnell pitched a near no-hitter in leading Bowling Green to a 4-1 triumph over the Joplin Fireballs. The Racers, now 19-10, have been on a roll in the early going.

McConnell was effective against the Fireballs, seldom allowing a hard-hit ball. The left-hander limited Joplin to just 1 run on 1 hit over 8 innings.

"I wouldn't want to be playing us right now," said Bowling Green manager Walt Dobson.
