The Minneapolis Freeze did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Albuquerque Cacti at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Les van Kleef, who captured player of the game honors. van Kleef, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 6 walks. The save went to Xian Wang, his 2nd this season.
Roger Washington did his part for the Freeze, producing a 2-run single in the top of the third inning. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Albuquerque skipper Lou Hampton.
The win lifts Minneapolis to a record of 14-13.
