Starting pitcher Felipe De La Hoya pitched well enough to help the Vancouver Canadians beat the Philadelphia Freedom by the score of 4-3. De La Hoya went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-1. Alberto Ramírez earned the save for Vancouver, his 9th of the year.
José Rodríguez had a big 2-run single for the Canadians in the bottom of the second inning. With Vancouver leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Cristo Hernández and stroked the single to center. It was his 21st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Canadians ahead, 4-1.
After the game, Vancouver manager John Harrison applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The win takes Vancouver to 14-13.
