Bombers Come Back Late, Nip Freeze
|
The Bronx Ballpark faithful were treated to a thrilling, walk-off win.
Bronx starter Pat Glass had a strong outing against the Minneapolis Freeze at Bronx Ballpark. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-4 win. Bronx reliever Ronald Stevens picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Yoshiki Sato took the loss.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 4-4, left fielder Lonnie Martin won it for Bronx. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Martin hit a full count fastball from Cory McCoy for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 5-4 win.
"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Martin. "Maybe this win will help."
Despite the win, Bronx, now 5-16, is off to a terrible start.
