Canadians Prevail, 5-3, Over Scranton
|
Vancouver overcame a superlative game from Junji Kobayashi to beat Scranton, 5-3. The Scranton pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Fernando López got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. Alberto Ramírez finished the game for Vancouver and earned his 5th save.
Vancouver took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, right fielder Jung-tae Ko hit a 2-run home run that electrified the crowd.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Ko.
Losses have been rare for the Escape, who are now 17-5.
