Billings pitcher Gang-sheng Lew did his part in helping his team beat the Joplin Fireballs, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winner was Billings reliever Taheiji Ohayashi, now 2-0. The loser was Hisataka Matsumura. Diego Castro earned the save, his 6th.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, designated hitter Pedro Renterías had a key at-bat for the Mustangs. With Billings trailing 2-0, he banged a 2-run home run.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Billings manager Greg Morgan.

Billings goes to 14-8 with the win.
