Coal Miners Go Down to Defeat, 5-1
|
Théophile Richard never let the Coal Miners get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his forkball, to pitch the Raiders to a 5-1 win. Richard, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing no earned runs. Losses have been few and far between for the Coal Miners, who are now 16-7.
In the bottom of the third inning, Ken Donovan went deep for the Raiders. With Reno leading 1-0, he drilled a 3-run home run.
Donovan called the win "a collective effort."
