Canadians Walk Off with 6-5 Win
|
The Canadians had to overcome a fine performance from Albuquerque pitcher Raymond Riley to grab a 6-5 win at Stanley Park. Riley allowed 1 earned run over 8.1 innings. Vancouver reliever Cai-fei Men picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Hisataro Sato took the loss. The Canadians raised their record to 7-8.
Vancouver pinch hitter José Rodríguez said he wanted to hit the ball hard when he batted in the bottom of the tenth. He not only hit it hard, he hit a fastball from Hisataro Sato deep for a grand slam home run. It resulted in a 6-5 lead for Vancouver.
Rodríguez said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
