Albuquerque Cacti starter Gabresilassie Cherono kept the Vancouver Canadians hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 7-2 win. Cherono picked up the win for Albuquerque, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-2. Tom Murchison was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

Scotti Scannell contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat that helped Albuquerque get the win.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Albuquerque manager Lou Hampton.

The Canadians fall to 5-8 and continue to sputter in the early going.
