Detroit right fielder Anthony Miller was a significant contributor in his team's 7-4 triumph over the Joplin Fireballs. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Detroit. Detroit reliever Hervé Muller picked up the win to move to 1-1. Tam Bilh suffered the loss. Raul Nunez picked up the save, his 4th.
A key at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Tony Martinez, hit a 2-run single. It made the score 6-4, Detroit, and helped them go on to win.
In postgame comments to the Detroit Citizen, Miller said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the loss, Joplin falls to 6-4.
