Eddie Ruiz was instrumental in his team's 5-1 triumph over the Fairfield Flash. The left fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Bowling Green Racers. Bowling Green reliever Sae-wan Yi got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bi`nh Trieu was tagged with the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Martin Blank.
Ruiz brought the fans to their feet in the bottom of the second, when the 28-year old center fielder ripped a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put Bowling Green ahead, 2-0.
Ruiz called the win "a collective effort."
Bowling Green, now 5-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
