Loss Extends Bronx Losing Streak

It was a fun time at The Bell, where the Bronx Bombers and Philadelphia Freedom tangled.
The Philadelphia Freedom relied on the hitting of shortstop Mitchell Courtenay to stop the Bronx Bombers, 6-3. For the game, Courtenay was 2 for 3 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Manuel Cortéz picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 1. On the season, he is now 1-1. Nobuatsu Fukumoto earned the save for Philadelphia, his 3rd of the year.
Courtenay provided the big break for the Freedom in the bottom of the second inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single, helping Philadelphia to get the win.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Bronx manager Weston Papenfuss.
With the win, Philadelphia improves its record to 4-3.
