Coal Miners Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Antioch Coal Miners beat the Astoria Argonauts, 7-3, at Golden Fleece Park. The Coal Miners got a fine performance from left fielder Héctor Lara, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Lester Bisdu earned the win for Antioch. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. The Coal Miners, now 6-2, have hit the ground running this season.
Lara delivered in the top of the third inning for Antioch. With the game tied and runners on 1st and 2nd, the left fielder hit a 3-run home run to right.
"Héctor is still learning," said Coal Miners manager John Smiley. "The sky's the limit for him."
