The Acapulco Banditos went down to defeat to Gabriel Bernard and his Fairfield teammates. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Flash. Bernard, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Flash, now 2-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
In the bottom of the fifth, Fairfield left fielder Lee Smith had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and one out, Smith stroked a run-scoring double to right-center. It made the score 3-1, Fairfield. For the game, he was 1-2 with a double and a walk.
"I was a little disappointed," said Acapulco manager John Perry. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
