Fans of the Peoria Caterpillars who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Peoria win over the visiting Astoria Argonauts, 10-9. Graeme Hughes started for the home team against Mike Taylor. Jae-hoon Park earned the coveted player of the game honors.

Hiyutaro Ushijima was the walk-off hero for Peoria. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Caterpillars catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"If we keep winning the close games," Ushijima said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
